Add a bit of whimsy to your holiday gatherings with Pumpkin-Shaped Dinner Rolls. These homemade rolls, complete with a fresh rosemary or parsley "pumpkin stem," are a delightful way to make your dinners unforgettable!. 


Ingredients:


For the pumpkin dinner Rolls:

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4-5 cups all-purpose flour


To Decorate Halloween pumpkin rolls :

  • Extra melted butter for brushing
  • A small sprig of fresh rosemary or parsley for the pumpkin stem

Preparing the Dough:


In a small bowl, sprinkle the active dry yeast over warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes or until it's foamy.


In a separate mixing bowl, heat the whole milk until it's lukewarm.


In a large mixing bowl, combine the foamy yeast mixture, lukewarm milk, granulated sugar, softened unsalted butter, eggs, and salt.


Gradually add in 4 cups of all-purpose flour and knead the dough. Continue adding flour until the dough is soft and slightly sticky.


Shaping the pumpkin dinner Rolls:


Cover the dough and let it rise for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal pieces, shaping each piece into a ball.


Place the balls on a greased baking sheet.

Using a knife or scissors, make 6-8 deep cuts around the sides of each roll to create the pumpkin shape.


Adding Details:


Melt some extra butter and brush it over the top of each roll to give them a golden finish.


Baking the pumpkin Rolls:


Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown.


Once baked, remove the rolls from the oven and immediately insert a small sprig of fresh rosemary or parsley into the top of each roll to create the pumpkin stem.


Prep Time: 20 minutes | Rising Time: 1 hour | Baking Time: 12-15 minutes


Yield: Approximately 12 pumpkin-shaped dinner rolls
